Georgia Classic Theatre is a 501c3 nonprofit theatre company that incorporated in the summer of 2026. We pull inspiration from the closed company of Georgia Shakespeare (1986-2014), a LORT D regional theatre that was in residence at Oglethorpe University in Atlanta, GA. We stand on the shoulders of that company, as artists and audience combined, to ignite a renewed passion and commitment for this style of theatre and artist development. Together, we look forward to focusing on producing classic theatre of varying genres that serve today’s community. We strive to bring audience and artists together in a shared experience as we reimagine how theatre classics interacts with our modern community.

PARTNERSHIP:
Oglethorpe University has been part of this theatrical story since the beginning. Once separate entities who shared a building, GCT is now working with OU as a co-producer. We are grateful for OU’s interest in renewing a partnership with the new leadership of Georgia Classic Theatre.
OUR MISSION:
To produce classics through a contemporary lens to foster a better understanding of our community and cultivate the next generation of Atlanta-based artists.
